I spent Monday with my Maw-Maw Mattox in Lawrenceburg for a cooking class on fried pies. She makes THE BEST apple fried pies in the world--better than any I've ever had anyways. I had called her earlier to make sure she wasn't hanging out with her girl friends or on some road trip with them. Dad said she had been waiting all week for me to get there. When I got there, she made a great lunch--sweet tea, fresh tomato slices, fried squash and okra, green beans, corn bread, and fresh cream corn!!! >
She already had some dough made and chilled--she said that's how the cooking shows do it!! We took the video camera along so we could film the lesson (and have some lasting memories of Maw-Maw). We had a great day together. Got to plan our next one soon.

Steph,
that food looks AMAZING! Love every bit of it! Those are the foods of my childhood, and I would eat them every day if I could!
now that you know how to make them, i'm expecting fried pies at the next small group!
